Pro-life advocates are speaking out after a new report revealed an astonishing and saddening statistic: nearly 100 percent of unborn babies diagnosed with Down Syndrome are aborted in Iceland.

Recently, actress Patricia Heaton added her voice to those criticizing Iceland’s view toward these unborn babies.

“Iceland isn’t actually eliminating Down syndrome. They’re just killing everybody that has it. Big difference,” Heaton, who is an Emmy-award winning actress who starred on the show “Everybody Loves Raymond,” tweeted, as reported by LifeNews.com.

The initial report about Iceland’s abortion practices came from a CBS News article this past week and noted that the Scandinavian country “is on pace to virtually eliminate Down Syndrome through abortion.”

On average, only two children with Down syndrome are born in Iceland each year, while the rest are aborted.

While Heaton and others have called out this discriminatory abortion practice, those such as Iceland hospital counselor Helga Sol Olafsdottir says she sees no issues with Iceland’s Down syndrome abortion rate.

“This is your life — you have the right to choose how your life will look like,” Olafsdottir tells pregnant women whom she counsels.
